Adidas plastic waste
Plastic gameplan from Adidas
As many people know, plastic is a significant environmental problem. It takes many years to decompose. To make matters even worse, toxic chemicals are released into the soil when plastic bags are exposed to heat and sunlight. When these toxic substances are released when plastic is being burned, it also contributes to air pollution and climate change. According to Bryan Liscinsky, eight million metric tons of plastic enter the oceans every year. This weight is equivalent to 90 aircraft carriers. A report of the World Economic Forum shows a model that by 2050, there will be more plastic by weight than fish in the ocean.
Adidas feels a big global company responsible for these harmful causes. This is larger than sports; this is for our future. Therefore, they created a ´Three Loop Strategy.' It focuses on three main categories:
- Recycled Loop – made from recycled materials;
- Circular Loop – made to be remade;
- Regenerative Loop – made with nature.
